Why isn't Molly so popular?

On the right of this blog I have a survey that will end today regarding 4 historical dolls.  Which one is your favorite?  I know a lot of girls with AG dolls, but I know no one who has Molly.  I think she is pretty.  Is it the glasses?  Is it the braids?  Is it the bangs?  Is it her clothes?  Is it everything combined?  Hmmmm.....

Kit seems to be the winner!  Quite frankly, I love freckles!  She would be my pick; plus, I love her time period and all her acessories.  Yet, she doesn't have long hair like Molly to play with.
We have Kit at our house.  I believe she is the only blue-eyed, blond-haired, freckled doll.  What's cute about her hair is that when you take her hair-clip out her hair is longer on that side.  It is quite stylish.

We also have Rebecca at our house.

I think she is popular because of her hair and her face mold.  What do you think?

We also have Julie at our house.

I think girls really LOVE her hair.  It is so long and so straight!

Poor Molly!  I still think she is beautiful.  I'm just curious why girls are not attracted to her.  What are your thoughts?

Making more Leggings!!!

Well, I had to try my hand at leggings again.  I love leggings!  They are so cute on girls, teens, and young ladies (if worn appropriately).
This time I bought stretchy fabric.  My daughter picked out gray.
Then I got my black AG leggings, and traced them on white paper.
I only traced one side since each side is the same.  Here is what I traced:

Then I traced around that about a quarter of an inch so I would have seams.  Now, I know most of you out there probably don't know how to sew, so I bet this may be boring.

This outside line I will cut out and place that on the gray fabric.

Then I will trace around the paper onto the fabric and cut our 4 pieces.  To move this story along, I then sewed all 4 pieces together and came up with leggings.  Here's my doll Suzie modeling them:

I couldn't find stretchy lace to go around the hem, but they still look cute.  Now it takes me about 3 tries to get a pattern perfect.  Above you don't see any mistakes, right?  Well, look a little further:

Here is the front-view of the leggings underneath the shirt.  It's OK, but.......

.....this is what her back side looks like.  I forgot to think about how her bottom is much bigger than her front, so the leggings dont' quite fit her bottom.  Practice makes perfect, so I will try again.  But, for now, you can't tell with her long shirt over it.

CUTENESS ALERT!!CUTENESS ALERT!!CUTENESS ALERT!!

I have to interupt this blog to show you our hamsters:
I just saw them sleeping together in their sky house, and I woke them up to show you.  Aren't they so cute!!!!!!

Now, let's get back to the legging outfit.  I found these cute AG shoes to go with Suzie's leggings and shirt, and what a match!!!

They have butterflies just like her shirt:

I think it's a cute match.  I hope to perfect these leggings and give some away!  Have a wonderful day and night!!!

A New Dress

I have had such a BUSY week!  Keeping up with a blog is a LOT for my schedule, but I found some time to get in some pictures.  Let me show you a dress that I made for my daughter's dolls Felicity and Elizabeth.  I LOVE the colors pink and gold together.  My doll Rebecca is modeling the new dress next to Elizabeth.  I tried to keep the new dress a lot like Elizabeth's dress since I didn't have time to look up Colonial fashion.  I did make a few changes though:
I chose to lengthen my dress because I don't like shoes showing under a long dress.

There is actually a jacket over the top of the dress.  Elizabeth's dress is all one piece.

The only thing I regret is making those bows so big.  I know Felicity's gala gown has these big bows, but after I permantly sewed them in is when I realized that I wished they were smaller.  Oh, well.......

Here is a cute purse for her also.

My hat is on the right, and Elizabeth's is on the left.  I love Elizabeth's lace though.  It is more authentic and thinner.

Here is the back of the dress with the jacket snapped up. Now, I didn't come up with this pattern on my own.  I did go to the fabric store and find a doll pattern for old-fashioned clothes.  I just altered the pattern to my taste.  My daughter loves the dress, but she is an American Girl Doll Purist.  Do you know what that means?  She has a hard time putting anything on her dolls that is not AG brand.  I know she likes it though, and I love sewing for her!!
Hope you like it too!!!

AG's Bathing Suit!

My son picked out a Christmas present for me that I received after Christmas.  He picked out the bathing suit for me!  I love it!!!  It is so detailed and so well made.
BUT, it was SO HARD to put the top of the bathing suit on!!!!  I thought I was going to rip the top or break my doll.  I ended up having to put the top on from the feet first.  I am very surprised that I didn't hear it tear though.
The skirt is so cute and so realistic!!

My favorite piece is the shirt.  Again, it is so detailed and realistic.  I can't forget about the flip-flops; they are just as detailed.  This was worth the buy.  Thank you so much to my son!!!!

A new book and outfit!

I did buy one gift for myself at Christmas that I forgot to tell everyone about.  It is a book about Priscilla Mullins.  Do any of you girls know who she is? She was a famous Mayflower passenger.  Not only that, but my daughter and I are direct descendants of her.  I am the 13th generation back, and my daughter is the 14th.  Here is the book:
This is a children's book, and it is so easy to read.  When I read it I was very inspired by this woman's faith and strength.
This woman was tested by everything, and she came out of the test as GOLD.

I also bought the outfit for her.  I could have actually made this myself and made it a little more authentic, but I was so busy over the holidays.  It looks great on Rebecca.  I hope to pass this on to my grandchildren one day.  I highly recommend reading this book!

Making Leggings

I thought I would try to make leggings for my doll.  My daughter and I went to The Children's Place at the mall tonight, and I bought the smallest pair of leggings I could find - 12 month old baby leggings.  When I got home I had to cut them WAY down.  Here's what they look like.

This is a casual look.  I don't have a lot of AG clothes to go with leggings.  I'd prefer a denim skirt or a slender dress.

This is a more dressy look.  I made this dress 5 years ago, and my daughter had one to match when she was 7.

What do you think?

I wish I had Ivy

I am doing a Chinese lesson tonight at my church.  I teach 1st - 3rd grade and we just finished a unit on Hudson Taylor.  Do you know who he is?

We are going to put all the students in our big church bus, and drive them around town for awhile.  We will be pretending that we are going to a Chinese restaurant, but will actually return to church and go into a special room that is all set up to look like a Chinese Restaurant.  Yum!!

My daughter said, "Do you wish you had Ivy?"  I said, "Yes!"  Especially in her Chinese outfit.

Now, do you know who Hudson Taylor is?  I'm curious if you know!

JASMINE CHOSE GINGER

Here is Jasmine's shirt she chose.  I was really surprised that the cat was chosen.  I felt like most girls would like the dog.

I went ahead and put some mini clips with the shirt.

Here's your package ready to mail.  I did receive your address.  I love your address number.  My daughter got a big kick out of it.

Hope you enjoy it!!!

AND THE WINNER IS..............JASMINE!!!!!

First, I lined up everybody's names.

Then, folded them up.

Placed them in a hat,

Then my daughter drew one out.

We opened up the winner and it was Jasmine!!!!!  Congratulations, Jasmine!!!  All you need to do is give me your address in the comments.   I will block it for no one to see.  Please put in your comment if you want either Honey or  Ginger on your shirt.   I have made the setting where I can view the comment before it is  posted, and I'll just view yours and delete it. If you can't do that I'll think of something else. Congradulations!

CONTEST REMINDER

Here is the shirt again that I am giving away.  It's a long t-shirt, and it velcroes in the back.
Here are the 2 choices you have to put on the shirt:  Ginger, or Honey.  Just comment on my blog what you like to do in the winter.  I will choose a winner (from a hat) this Sunday morning (Jan. 16th).

HERE'S MY DAUGHTER'S CONTEST:

She is doing a contest that you can enter also.  Her blog site is to the right on my blog page, 3rd one down, called American Girl Central.  The winner will receive a knitted scarf (that she knitted), and a matching doll and girl barette.  She says that the scarf is too long, but it isn't if you tie it European style (double it first, then tie it on).  I think it's quite cute!!  Good job, Liddy!
Here are the barettes.
Of course, the big one is for the girl, and the small one is for the doll.
Here is my doll, Rebecca wearing the doll one.  Pretty cute, huh?  I am very proud of my daughter!!!  So, please, check out her contest!

LEFT OVER CHRISTMAS PICS!

Here is my daughter in this past American Girl Christmas dress.  I'm so excited that she can still fit into their clothes.  She is now 5 feet 5 inches tall!   (Her daddy is almost 6'5.)

And, here is my silly cat again, Streaky, all dressed up for Christmas.  She is such a trooper.  She'll just about wear anything I put on her.

DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE CONTESTS !!!!

For KIDS! A new blog I found!

Kids if you're interested in winning a new American Girl Doll you might want to check out this new blog I found called The Doll Wardrobe (It is listed on the right of the blog page, 4th one down.)  They are giving away either Kanani, Kirsten, or Ivy.  Each doll will be given away brand new in their box.  All you have to do is get your parent to enter.  It's quite easy.  The doll will be given away in April, I believe.
I know what doll I would like!!

The Give-away will end THIS Saturday, Jan.15th!

Why will the give-away end this Saturday?  Because it is too long for me to wait!  Plus, I think I came to an end of people entering.  I will still give it until this Saturday, Jan. 15.  I put these 3 shirts on from AG to show how short they are.  They are totally cute shirts, and there is no way I could do that quality of work, but I do wish they would put out a longer one.

Notice at the shoulders of this shirt; they are puffed sleeves.  That's a nice extra touch.

REMEMBER the GIVE-AWAY:

All you have to do to enter is to comment on my blog on what you like to do in the winter.  You have until Jan. 15th, and I will annouce the winner on Jan. 16th.  (I will just pull out a name from a hat.)
